It's tradition on reddit for subreddits to do various gags, changed themes, or other 'pranks' for April Fools day.

Use this thread to catalog them as you discover them. Tell what the sub is, what the theme is, and if you *can*, explain why they did it or what makes it amusing for anyone who finds themselves confused by the theme.

Thanks

Edit: /u/202halffound is logging all the pranks by subreddit in a nice little table on /r/self. Check it out[1], and maybe lend a hand for any they may have missed.

/r/AncientGreek is now Latin, while /r/latin is now Ancient Greek.

As with many classics jokes, all 17 of us are incredibly amused.

/r/videos has a disclaimer at the top, explaining they will no longer being accepting submissions:

Due to a DMCA mass takedown request, /r/videos will no longer be able to accept links to videos. We know this isn't a great solution, but as a temporary fix, we would like you to simply describe your video in a text post and include the term to search on youtube/vimeo etc. Vines are unaffected. We hope you understand. Please see sticky for updates on the situation.

This is obviously not the case.

/r/outoftheloop has modified their rules to state that:

If someone is asking about something that they *really* should know about if they haven't been living in a cave for the past week or so, please don't indulge them. Let them figure it out on their own - the best way to learn is to learn it yourself instead of having someone just pour knowledge into you ear.

/r/SubredditDrama is banned...?

EDIT: The joke is that it's banned. Turn off subreddit styles for your daily hit of butter.

/r/Australia is automatically adding politically charged snippets to the end of every comment. /r/Australia is generally a very politically dominant subreddit and is often claimed to be full of government shills. The gag is making it appear that the subreddit is more full than usual.

On their front page you can find questions like:

According to Cultural Analysis of the First Galactic Empire, Palpatine was insistent on spreading Nabooean culture across the galaxy. Is this accurate?

To what extent did the Battle of the Morannon affect the demographics of Middle Earth in the Fourth Age?

There was a question about the different Dr. Who's (or is it Whos?) before, but I can't find it.

And their mods and experts have flair saying something to like of:

/r/mildlyinteresting has 86'd all rules.

Rules have been removed.

After months of complaints about Rule 6 being too restrictive and subjective, and people complaining that their screenshot should be allowed because it is particularly mildly interesting, we have decided to remove our rules. If somebody's rule-breaking submission slipped through the net and hit the front page with 2000 karma, to be removed later on, they would cry to us about "everyone liked it, let the community decide". Well you got your wish, now the community decides. This could be a 2 month trial, we're still talking about it, but for now the change is effective immediately, indefinitely. Cheers, RedSquaree
