View submission: Birth control & OCD

My therapist and I recently talked about this! We realized that my OCD and checking behaviors started to manifest about 6 months after I got back on the pill after being off of it for about a year in between relationships. While there was other life stuff going on - graduating college, applying to grad school, living with stressful roommates - we both have a theory that the hormone changes made my OCD thoughts pop up more in the forefront of my brain. I’ve also noticed that I’m more anxious on hormonal birth control than off of it. However, I asked my gynecologist about it and she said it’s a dead end, so this is just based on my lived experience 🤷‍♀️

Oh Hii! Yes my gyno also said dead end. She said about 3 months after I got off BC I should be back to my regular self…but I waited & 3 months lead to a year and now 2 years here I am…

I strongly believe it was BC idk I just have a strong feeling of knowing you know? Like I was fine before it. I also feel guilt bc I didn’t necessarily need BC, my docs & gyno convinced me & since I was in college I decided well y not must be a sign to take it. Now I just regret it although my therapist mentioned maybe OCD would have showed up even if I didn’t take BC.
