May I ask how many women developed or felt their ocd had started with birth control and when stopped developed OCD? There is so little research on this. However for 2 years I’ve known deep down this all started with birth control for me and I just want to know how similar it might be for others. Yea, i most likely had a bit anxiety or wat not prior but still. Therapists have told me I might have always had it but BC made it more noticeable but idk after years it just still puzzles me how I ended up here after trying birth control for the first time at 18. Since, I’ve been terrified of birth control.
Just interested in this topic or just want to talk/vent you know since it’s barely any research on this haha.

I’m young probably don’t got OCD but since I’ve been put on it my mum has been talking about how I’ve been acting like I have OCD. This is just how my brain works and it’s likely just stress but I’m actually very interested in the possibility of this being true

My therapist and I recently talked about this! We realized that my OCD and checking behaviors started to manifest about 6 months after I got back on the pill after being off of it for about a year in between relationships. While there was other life stuff going on - graduating college, applying to grad school, living with stressful roommates - we both have a theory that the hormone changes made my OCD thoughts pop up more in the forefront of my brain. I’ve also noticed that I’m more anxious on hormonal birth control than off of it. However, I asked my gynecologist about it and she said it’s a dead end, so this is just based on my lived experience 🤷♀️
