View submission: How are the Western made jets (Airbus/Boeing) operated by Russian airlines still flying considering the number of sanctions against the sale of spare service parts?

Why would they ground planes because there are sanctions that have nothing to do with their ownership of said planes?

The sanctions have been in effect long enough that the planes would have required major services requiring spare parts to maintain airworthiness. Since the planes haven't been grounded for maintenance, the airlines are either relaxing service standards, burning through spare parts stockpiles, making their own parts, or acquiring parts through third parties to circumvent the sanctions.
