I'm OP in 15 years and my knees were fucked from running track. Last spring I landed wrong when jumping down to launch a vintage aluminum 12' boat, a jump I made plenty of times before. I tore both menisci and didn't even catch anything other than drama after I got that boat launched. It was such a bullshit.

But I learned in PT how to strengthen my knees and use them properly. I was able to avoid surgery and 99.9% of the time there are absolutely no issues.

So, yeah, strengthen your knees and use them correctly so they last as long as possible within your control.
