I doubt many kids use Reddit, and by that logic literally anything that it purchasable can be considered as “exploiting kids” and in addition reddit needs to pay for various things such as keeping the servers online anyway.

That’s what ads are for. The also get money from Gold Silver and Platinum awards purchased with coins that cost money. Then there’s reddit premium and sponsored posts.

Reddit got TWO 180 million donations, one from Tencent, the Chinese corporation that has 4% stake in Reddit and 49% stake in Epic Games. I don’t think they need more money to keep the website going. They have been doing just fine.
