Don't be ridiculous. You have no idea why people in /r/atheism[1] started doing it. You are simply making an unfounded assumption and a rude one, at that.

It doesn't sound like the OP would agree with that, and good thing, too, as that would be pointless and juvenile.

I'm not satirizing it. I want everyone to post their ugly mugs, because it's important to realize we're all human beings behind all of this anonymity. Driving that point home occasionally with posts like these helps keeps things even-keeled.
There's always someone who's going to start rabble-rabble-rabbling though, so it's cool man. That's just like...their opinion[1].
