An atheist's contribution.[1] I like this idea. It puts a little personality behind all of our clacking away on keyboards.

Here's the face of an atheist.[1] I punch bears for a living. Any questions?

It actually is a pretty good idea by r/atheism. annoying yes, but a great strategy for making things more personal.

edit: you know what it's actually really sad. I just read through a lot of them. So many people who are angry or hurt in one way or another. some by the church, some just angry against a guy they don't believe exists.

I'll fully admit. I am an atheist but after today I had to unsub from my own freaking subreddit. The entire first 3 pages was face posts. I like your idea better. Silly fun-loving posts not all these brooding melancholy faces with a huge wall of brooding melancholy white text on a white background. Feels bad man.

Before opening this picture I was like: "Argh, not this." No I am like: "You are funny guy."
Atheism looked like gonewild today.

I don't mind the idea, but god damn, could people post related things in the comments section instead of new posts. It's soooo annoying that /r/atheism has it's pages full of random faces with strange quotes. Don't let /r/christianity do the same.

That was hilarious! but guys Please don't follow suit with the faces fad. No disrespect to the OP, but why not do something original. It's evident see that there is some sort of sick hostility toward Christians on reddit, but those face post scream teen angst. More importantly, lets do something to give glory to our God. He'll take care of the rest

I get the goal behind this but I don't see why it would be needed to remind people that they're talking to...people.
I'm a gamer. In terms of online social games I played WoW and now I play Starcraft 2.
I was always respectful to everyone BECAUSE I know damn well I'm busy with real people(which made the entire experience especially on WoW a lot more fun obviously) and if you apply the golden rule at least one bit this should only be normal.
I don't see how it is hard to remember something so basic.
The way I talk to people here is no difference then what I would say face to face.
The rude things included. I'm a rather direct and honest person and will call people assholes if I consider them behaving like one.

Not that I'm coming out against doing a "faces of /r/Christianity[1] thing, but you do realize that it's a little different for atheists, right? They're a minority, and often persecuted, and so the accusation of hiding in anonymity is wielded against them a bit more often.
So, I'm not saying don't do it, I'm sure it's fun, just understand that it's a little different.
However, it is a much better idea to keep it in one area. ;)

Our friends in r/atheism bring shame upon themselves with these posts. Let's not follow their example.
