View submission: what does this salary mean per year?

It's not unlimited; After the 6 weeks you're in Krankengeld (which is less than your salary), and after 52 weeks of Krankengeld this is also gone. But that's a limit that is not easy to reach (also because ÖGK has little interest in you being on sick leave that long, the Kontrollärzte can be real dicks and just say you're able to work again, no matter the reality)

Added info: even then there is mechanisms so you will never be really fucked, like in other countries. Sure, there can be dicks, but I have yet to hear of someone who is absolutely incapable of working and has to go back. Sure there might be, but the cases I know the working environment was usually accommodating them. The only hard cases I know is people going into burn out and then back at work they immediately go back to stressing about stuff with no real reason and end up in a Burnout again
