I saw this ad and was wondering to know what does that make in a year. I am from US and trying to learn the Austrian pay system plus the income tax.
"Brutto-Gehalt: 2.800€ - 4.000€ (30 - 38,5h / Woche, Gleitzeit"
Also when they say 25 days Holiday , does that included the vacation and sick days ?
Thank you

2.800€ - 4.000€ is the range for the salary before taxes.
I would guess that the 4.000€ are for the 38.5 hours per week. This can be calculated to the netto salary with https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/[1][2] which gives around 2.711,88€ per month.
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/
2: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/
In addition in Austria, you (normally) get two more salaries (one in summer, one before Christmas).
The 25 days holiday are the vacation days (only working days are counted). Sick leave days as well as public holidays are counted separately.
Edit:
I nearly missed the title - what it means per year.
4.000€ * 14 (12 months + 2 extra) = 56.000,00€ brutto or 38.816,10€ netto.

There are no sickdays in Austria. If you are sick, you are sick.
25 days vacation is the minimum.
Payment is a range, depending on your qualifications and years worked.
Expect to pay about 30% of taxes and social security for about 3500 Euros

Here's the gross-net calculator[1] of the Austrian Chamber of Labour. Have at it.
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/
As the other guy said: sick days (as in "limited sick days") are not a thing in Europe. When you're sick you get a doctor's note and that's it. You can even "get back" vacation days if you get sick while on leave that way.
This is the *annual* net for 3.500€/month gross:

The lower end of that, aka 2 800, 14 times, would be € 39 200,00 before tax per year, which is €29 022,44 after tax.
The higher end is €56 000 per year before tax or €38 816,10 after tax.
The tax may seem a lot, but it includes salary-tax and healthcare.
The 25 days are only vacation days, national holidays are seperate. We do not have the concept of sick days, when you're sick you just get a doctors note and hand that in. So I guess you could say it's unlimited sickdays.

You can use this site (sorry only German) to calculate the yearly before and after tax: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at[1][2]
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at
2: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at
Brutto in this case means before tax, Netto would be after tax and social security aka. take-home payment.
25 days means vacation time. Sick days aren't limited in Austria. If you're too sick to work, you don't.

This depends on the exact industry, but usually when calculating with the upper end (4000 €) this would be 14x a year (12 months, plus two extra in the summer and before christmas), so it would be 56000 € a year, before taxes, for 38.5 hours a week. Gleitzeit means you can decide when exactly to work, although most of the time this is not all as-you-want, but for example "you have to be here from 9 am to 3 pm, and where you put the other hours is up to you".
Taxes would differ very much on your living situation, but after taxes it should be no less than around 38.800 € a year.
25 days holiday is standard, this is just the vacation days. Sick days are not really* limited.

When you see something saying "40h brutto 5000€" it means you have to work 40h per week and earn 5000BRUTTO... which means your employer will do your taxes and social security fees, and then give you ~3000NETTO as your payment. Your rights include 25days of vacation (paid) per year, "unlimited" sick days (if you are sick too often you will probably be let go and you need to provide a letter from a doctor saying you are sick), lots of resting times, holidays,... It is also custom here to pay out the wage 14 times bc the 13th and 14th is taxed less. So if you see 50k BRUTTO per year, you would get 50k/14 per month and on 2 occasions (50k/14)*2 per year BRUTTO. Also when you work more than what is written in your contract, you either get more time off or more money (1.25 for every +hour below 40hrs, 1.5 for the hours above 40). And then, here we have a very unique system with our collektive contracts (Kollektivverträge)- they determine the minimum standards for each industry and are most of the time more relevant then the general law. Also there is the workers union which gives free help concerning the law (Arbeiterkammer)

25 days holiday are exactly that 25 days of paid Holidays. Days with you being sick are not included as in Austria you still get paid on days you are sick and they are not limited. But you will need a doctor certifying that you are sick. If you are sick for a loger period there might be a mandatory check by a special doctor to prove that you are really that sick. (and of course there is the risk you get fired)
Brutto means money before tax and Social Security payments. Expect to pay ~25% on taxes and rougly he same amount on Social Security. But in Austria you get paid 14 times and there is less tax/SocialSecurity to pay for the 13th and 14th salary. Here [1]you can see what to expect netto depending from the salary.
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/
The social Security pays for doctors, Hospitals and once you have worked a certain amoung of time you will get payment in case you lose your job. should you stay and work in Austria long enough it will also pay retirement money.

Must be around 38 k per anno (for 40h- ca 2,7 netto ×14). 25 days holiday means you can take 25 days payed vacation per year. You can have as many sickdays as you want but be aware, when you are more than 6 weeks sick in one year, you get a little less payed than your normal wage.

It means your salary will be somewhere between those two numbers depending on your qualifications etc. It includes holidays and yeah you also get paid when you are sick and there is no specific number of sick days. It also includes 13th and 14th salary. So you get something between 2800-4000 14 times a year. But it's Brutto so it's before taxes and insurance.

Brutto means before tax and 2.8k-4K is the salary range they offer for the position.( this is the salary on a full time basis) 30-38.5h are the possible weekly working hours ( note that salary will differ from full time salary when not working full time) 25 days holllidays are your paid days off. These are the days you can choose to take off of work. Public holidays like the 26. Oktober our national holiday will not count towards the 25 days so the 25 are on top) also sick days are not counted to days off. They are just sick days. You get a doctors note and send it to your employer and don’t turn up for the time of your illness ( the doctors note specifies a specific time range) you can even extend it if you don’t feel better.

25 days of vacation means 25 individual days of paid time off. This is on top of any general public holidays like Christmas, Easter etc.

Depending on the hours you work e.g. 38,5h per week you will earn 4000€ per month before taxes. In austria to calculate the yearly payment we multiply by 14 (12 months + 1 salary for christmas + 1 salary for summer vacation) so we would end up at 56000€ per year before taxes. With the 25 days of holidays you have a total of 5 weeks you can take off during one year. If you are sick, that does not reduce your holidays since being sick does not count as holiday.
I hope you can extract all the info you need.

Brutto means all taxes and social seurity included. https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/[1][2] here is a calculator that shows you what your "take home" salary will be. You will also get double salary twice a year (summer and before christmas) with the double portion beeing less taxed. Income Tax and social security is decuted by your employer, so everything you get on your "paycheck" (bank transfer here) is yours to keep.

Vacation is already included - and sick days don't exist in the same way here. If you are sick you stay home and keep getting paid - as often and as long you're sick. (doctors note is a requirement)

The gross salary for this position is ranged from 2.8-4.0k. What gross salary you will end up with it part of your negotiation with the company. The final net salary can be looked up here: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at[1] there you’ll also find your yearly salaries and taxes.
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at
I am taking a guess here and say the range is either based of of your experience or a bonus system that this specific company implemented (I don’t see the rest of the job post - so I am only guessing)
In Austria you’ll get five weeks (25 days) of paid vacation. Moreover, twice a year you’ll get double your salary paid out. We call it fourteen salaries per year (12 + 2 extra).

You work for 30 - 38,5h a week. (Normaly from Monday to Friday. With only 30h you may only work for 4 days a week)
Your salary is 2800 - 4000 a month. In Austria you get 14 salaries (one in the summer for vacations and one to Christmas) https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/[1] here you can check what that will be in total with and without taxes. Eg with 2800/month you get 39.200/year which results in ~ 29.000 after taxes. 4.000/month is 56.000/year = ~38.800 after taxes.
1: https://bruttonetto.arbeiterkammer.at/
Gleitzeit = you usually have a fix working time from eg 10:00-14:00 and the rest of your working is free to choose. So you can start at 7:00 if you want.
25 days are the vacations I guess? They are on top of sick days and holidays. If you get sick during vacations you can go to the doctor and get your holiday back.

Min vacation 25 days. No sick days, but if you are sick for several months things can change. 14 monthly payments. Almost every job has a collective bargaining contract defining minimum standards and minimum wage.
E.g. you work at an IT company, you fall under the IT Kollektivvertrag, even if you are a cook in their kitchen. Always know the rights your Kollektivvertrag guarantees.
Some sectors like tourism have some relaxed worker protections/rights. Still far beyond anything you'll find in the US.

Not exactly. In the past it was like that. But now all the Salary you ever make is taken into account for your pension account. You usually get a yearly notice how much is in the pension account and how much monthly pension you would get from that. There is also a calculator at https://www.pensionskontorechner.at[1][2] . To be eligible for pension you need at least 15 years of social security insurance (from which 7 must come from employment - if you’ve been employed for a certain amount of time you still get insurance through unemployment insurance, which is part of social security).

Basically one important comment. If you are already employed in Austria, and you have questions like this, ask your Betriebsrat.
They should have all relevant information for you, or - at least - provide IT after a little time.

The salary and working hours is a range depending on what you are willing to work. I would assume that for 38.5 hours they pay 4.000€ per month before tax. Yearly that would mean, assuming they also have a collective bargaining agreement that includes a 13th and 14th salary that would make 56k a year before tax. 25 days is also the minimum vacation days for full time work. There is no such thing as sick days in Austria.
