View submission: Austin has a Brewed Awakening: The Austin Chronicle decides on an "Official Beer of Austin"

Honestly, they shouldn't have even had Jester King on the list. They are talking about an official beer of Austin, with the previous ones being Shiner and Fireman's 4. The kind of beer you can get anywhere and everywhere. While hilarious to think about a bunch of drunk college kids carrying around bombers of Le Petite Prince at ACL, it's just not realistic.

They should have added something like Power and Light from Independence. Doesn't really matter though, it was pretty obvious they were going to pick Pearl Snap. It was an instant classic when it came out and does transcend the beer geek crowd more so than most other local craft breweries.

Jester king is my favorite brewery but I still was at a lost on how ANY of their beers could be considered in this list. Especially prince.

You raise a good point. We're basically looking at the most socially acceptable form of austin beer to get blitzed to.
