This drives me insane, but I think I have an idea of why it happens too. My husband will often have me come look for something right in front of his darn eyes that I can find instantly. On the same token, he will point out something to me on the highway that I wont be able to pick up as quickly or will outright miss because we are moving.

I could be wrong, but maybe this is kind of a remnant of hunter gatherer. Like men were hunters so they needed to be able to track movement quickly and women tended to be gatherers so we saw more stationary stuff and had to pick out things closer and see in more range of colors.

Women were as much hunters as men, and men were just as much gatherers as women. Children would have likely have grown up gathering mostly and transitioning to hunting. We have different strengths and weaknesses that make us great companions, and it could be that women are better at stalking and men are better at chasing.

I believe this is correct. Men are better at noticing and tracking movement, and women are better at analyzing stationary objects. This is true in general, though obviously there are exceptions; and it’s because of our evolutionary roles.

Women can also perceive slightly more shades of color, which always made me jealous…

This is absolutely not true.

Sounds correct. Although there were some female hunters and male gatherers, this still holds up. Women generally have more cones in their eyes, and can see more colors, while men have more rods and are better with quick movements and night vision (rods mean greater light sensitivity)
