View submission: Wasn’t Ivory the soap that floats?

When I got a new-to-me Ford Ranger in 2004 I happened to swing by Costco and get a box of Irish Spring bars of soap. I opened one just to smell it and liked it enough that I left it in my truck to see if it would make my truck smell nice.

I've had that same bar of soap in my truck for 21 years. It's not as pretty. Kinda dinged up and a bit faded in color, but still smells alright.

I did that same thing with a bar of cheap Bee and Flower Sandalwood soap. It made a great air freshener for years, then still worked as soap when I sold that car!

I've read that Irish Spring can also work as a pest deterrent. Haven't tested it.

We put a bar of Irish spring in the car as a supposed rodent repellent.

A month later, the mice had eaten ~20% of the bar. Hrmmph.
