View submission: Living with no Retirement money
That is the absolute sad part about this, and linked to other posts today describing the downward arc of American civilization. Families in countless other counties, and in the US not too many decades ago, consider taking in their elder family members a forgone conclusion.

I love my parents.
I'd help them to avoid homelessness, to an extent. They are both heavy drinkers and self-destructive.
But...I'd never let either of them live with me. If they pushed it, I'd go no contact.
They ruined my childhood, they don't get even a single month of the peaceful, stable adulthood I have built.

I know, and now they're treated like trash, shuffled off to the warehouse so nobody has to look at them.
