Yes but you're saving him, literally. My relatives would stop answering the phone the minute they discovered I was to be homeless. Believe me, what you're doing is like, heroic man. Very rare.

I am one of those barely surviving on Social Security and a very small (a 7 year) pension. You really are a rare individual these days!
Some of my siblings have refused to answer the phone because they say they know I’ll ask for something. They don’t tell me but their conversations get back to me.
I’m 73, in a wheelchair and need help with daily living tasks!

That’s not rare. Millions of people help relatives in need. I agree, though, that it’s also not rare for family to ignore those in need. There are good people and there are selfish people.

That is the absolute sad part about this, and linked to other posts today describing the downward arc of American civilization. Families in countless other counties, and in the US not too many decades ago, consider taking in their elder family members a forgone conclusion.
