To clarify what appears to be a focal point for you, no, I worked perhaps 15-20 hours a week during the school year. During the summer and breaks, and after graduating high school, I worked at least full time, even while attending college.
You were correct, and I feel like that is important to you.

People also don't realize that in the 80s, companies could get away with working you overtime at a young age.
I worked at BK for 45+ hours a week while going to high school. I worked every afternoon after my school club days, then worked Sat starting at 5am and Sunday after church. That 6.5 OT money was more than most store managers and a complete dream to earn!!
My parents frequently thought I was at my BFFs house. She started working there to see me more.
Before that, at 10, we started raking yards, cutting grass, then babysitting at 12.
