To clarify what appears to be a focal point for you, no, I worked perhaps 15-20 hours a week during the school year. During the summer and breaks, and after graduating high school, I worked at least full time, even while attending college.
You were correct, and I feel like that is important to you.

The math; way back when you could work jobs as a teenager and get paid in cash. No taxes, no contributions to SS or Medicare. Medicare wasn't even a thing until 1965.
