Bingo! I’m paying $700 a month for my FIL (wife’s step father) to have a roof over his head. He has three kids of his own that don’t do shit for him. He knows he has outlived his money. At the end of the day he is left with $250 a week for groceries, power bill, cable and gas bill.

My family has a hereditary mental illness and sets up trusts for those in the family who cannot make or have no money.

Fortunately all my cousins, my siblings and I have all decided to not have kids, so that gene in our family branches dies with us.

I’m paying $500 a month plus medical expenses not covered and car repairs for my mother. Turns out to be at least $10k a year. She’s 82 and ran out of money when she was about 75. I’m her only child so it’s either pay for her to continue live in her house or she would have to live with me.
