View submission: Why are you still on Reddit?
Reddit somehow brings the best of humanity out of us
Like your optimism, but guessing you haven't looked at any of the political subs.

Sadly there’s a lot of trash humans who come in for sport because they are anonymous to troll and make nasty comments. I have precisely one group I follow on here that seems to have good people in it and not the trash. Even in the baking sub you’d think “ah people who like to bake, cool!” So many nasty people who make mean comments for sport. Reddit sadly is no better than other platforms. They all are problematic in one way or another.

But as an other commenter said, part of what's good about Reddit is the ability to avoid the political subs if you want to.

Politics is one of the reasons I left fb. Sick of the constant fighting in comments sections. So that’s a hard no and I will never willing go to political sub. That’s the beauty of Reddit. Join all the subs with things I actually enjoy and ignore the rest.

The point of reddit is that we don't have to look at political subs. We only see what we want here, not what we are forced to see.
