View submission: BETA: Weekly Round-Up and Newsletter | 2020-04-03
This is the biggest concern with a pure Opt-In, as simply saying "You can do this" will mostly just see it used by the users who browse here a lot and are 'plugged in' so to speak, while the crowd we are hoping to find the most use of it might never even know it is an option even if they would opt in. The above idea I hope would be a viable one to split the difference, although I have no control of the backend.

I agree with that too - I was happy to get this, because it reminded me of a sub I think is really high quality and has super interesting threads, that I know you all put what I think is an impressive amount of effort in maintaining quality within.
I said it'd be better if it were to be opt-in with my answer here[1] and the same in the survey, but then I actually read this whole post (should have done in the first place), and realized that it's not really something that can be done outside of a sticky post which again I think tons of people would simply overlook.
It's a tricky thing I suppose, but as many as might be bummed out by an unsolicited newsletter - it could easily be outweighed by people like me. I think it would definitely bring me over here more often, since I don't usually look at all the subs I'm subscribed to but just kind of rely on either whats shows up on my front page or general searches. I thought it was notable that a number of people seemed to say it reminded them in a positive way of this sub, and that they'd kinf of forgotten they were subscribed, so perhaps that would be the main reaction - I don't know.
Anyways, those are my two cents. Thumbs up either way for the effort you all put into this great sub! 👍
