All I know is I had a friend who went with his partner to a hospital to report/be treated for a rape from a couple of days prior and were left to wait in the emergency room for hours until they got fed up, left and went to the police station instead. The police took her blood straight away and had someone check her out. I don't know all the details, but I know that they were looked after pretty quick, and ended up being driven by ambulance to the hospital.

Someone else who said they went straight to the police station said they were surprisingly well looked after. I'm no expert, but I know that over recent years Police have received significant training to handle these sorts of situations, and that the quicker they can take a sample of her blood, the better.

There's the rape crisis centres here too that you'd know about, not sure where OP is from though. Also, as you'd probably know better than me, only certain hospitals are equipped with rape kits.

Also our health care system is pretty rubbish at the moment, and has been for a while.

Also I've done quite a bit of reading today as to the best place to head to first to report a rape, and it doesn't seem as though there's a 'best' location, there's rape crisis centres, the police station or the hospital. I'm guessing she's going to head to one of those, and she'll be looked after. But yes, if someone who has significant experience in this sector and dealing with victims and survivors has a more definitive answer, it would be good to know
