View submission: What is your country's equivalent?

The relationship between Sweden and Denmark is one of the most uplifting I know of.

Can you imagine the horror, suffering and death that has come of the wars fought between those countries? People willing to take to arms and die away from their family and life rather than become part of the other country.

And now there's a train connecting their cities together and people cross the border every day and feel like the same people who speak the same language - just one of us has a speech impediment.

It gives me hope for the future.

we may love a bit of banter, but I wouldn't be mad if our countries joined into one, (norway has to join too)

You guys can even have the capital, but only if it's Gothenburg

We still have our differences for sure, but I'd like to think our ancestors would be proud of how long we've managed to work together to save eachother from needless suffering.

Same goes for France and the UK, imagine building a multimillion worth underwater tunnel connecting two countries whose whole identity was attacking each other for centuries.

Few countries have buried as many hatchets as us, there is just soooo much shit that we could still be pissed about.

I'm glad that the literal era of blood is over.

Just imagine how peaceful the world would be if more countries just let go of old shit.

I love our linguistically and mathematically challenged brother 💕

Edit: had to insult them a little, don't want to get an angry mod-mail about being too chummy with old enemies, this sub has *standards* after all 😅

Also after the army passes through a settlement the settlement will starve as the army have cleared the food storages.

Europe was strongest globally when you were actively working against one another.

You just went a step too far, twice.

Wow I envy the simple life of those irrelevant countries with only one or two worthy neighbours.

It fucking disgusts me that we have not made them a footnote in history.
