2011-11-03 Things Role Playing Bloggers Tend Not To Write About
TRPBTNTWAs, or, Things Role Playing Bloggers Tend Not To Write About, by Noism... Let’s see!
TRPBTNTWAs
- *Book binding**: Not sure. I haven’t had too much trouble with my D&D 3.5, Pathfinder RPG and Labyrinth Lord books.
- *Doing a voice**: I do a bit of voice every now and then. I wiggle my head, wave my hands, pull faces, that kind of thing. I try to do more of it. In this respect “getting better” means “doing it more often” and I’m trying, I’m trying...
- *Breaks**: Usually a break after two to three hours. If we only play for three hours on weekday evenings, no break.
- *Description**: I like to keep it short.

- *Where do you strike the balance between “doing what your character would do” and “acting like a dickhead”?** I hate people acting like a dickhead. That’s where I draw the line. If it is something your character would do, then your character should do it, turn into a NPC and you should make a new character that doesn’t force you to act like a dickhead.
- *How do you explain what a role playing game is to a stranger who is also a non-player?** It’s usually a longer conversation where I start with “it’s like a computer role playing game and I’m the computer and that’s why it’s more flexible and exactly right for us – because we can make it so.”
- *Sounds kind of gay**: “When I overhear someone say, ‘that’s fucking gay,’ I grab him enthusiastically by the shoulder, grin and say, ‘Yes! I like it too!’” – A Softer World

- *Alchohol at the table?** Some times I feel like serving a glass of wine or port. Players have brought cans of beer at the table. We’ve never had tipsy players or drunken gaming. I don’t think I’d like it.
- *What’s acceptable to a PC whose player is absent from the session?** Absent players ⇒ absent characters, no questions asked.
