This is the structure I was aiming to lean on when I started this project. While composed of hymns, it features separate verses, choruses and a bridge that are all distinctly different (as in this case they were pulled from different hymns).
This one has been written for a while (almost three weeks ago), but there are idiosyncrasies with how the music matches the lyrics when the lyrics are written in isolation from the music (as in this case). I've not yet decided how I'll tackle this. I might sing it as-is with the current hymn components, or I may tweak the words to better fit them the music, or I might change both the hymn and lyrics.
This song's music is composed of the music from three different (public domain) hymns arranged in a manner to loosely simulate modern music.
The album concept (repeated from my bio): This FAWM, I want to write songs for an art album I'm working on. Abstractly, it's an art album about copyright... in the guise of hymn filk. The premise is a lonely space traveler thinks about what might be in store for the colony ship when they get there, but due to copyright restrictions only music made before 1926 is available on-board. So, he combines the two.

Title: We'll be passengers
Date: 2015-02-28 @ 03:41pm
(What if our problems aren't alien at all?)
In our medical supplies lurks
small as silver dust
tiny machines, little healers.
Sent along as perks
Robot doctors that never rust,
any injury sealers.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Trapped and waiting for our end.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
With no one our corpses to send.
What if the things become aware?
Built to dwell inside us
so we retain angry revolt.
Please, you must beware
Lost limbs, lost heads, it's not a fuss
What you eat will cause a jolt.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Finding resources to heal.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
With nerves blocked, nothing bad to feel.
Healthy bodies need food to grow.
Growing brain is hard.
Micro-nutrients must be found.
You won't find a cow
on a planet without yard.
So eat of man, nice and round.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Stalking babes and eating arms.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Weep as you eat my fleshy charms
We will have to watch without help.
Yet With eyes and mouths borrowed still
Perhaps our mouths could still yelp
Though if mouths full it brings me chill
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Chasing down our former friends.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Bringing about sore biter ends.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
Trapped and waiting for our end.
We'll be passengers, won't we?
With no one our corpses to send.
