Today must have been the happiest day of my life! The tidal generator is up and running. I got some plans from the cooperative’s library, and with a lot of friends of the miner’s forum I finally did it! In the end it wasn’t so hard, I guess. Saturn is big and the tidal forces are huge. In the end it’s all about the pressure differential.
The kids didn’t understand why I was so happy, of course. We’ll be building more stuff, for sure. Next up is a green house. I don’t think the kids have ever seen more than two green plants at a time. They’ll be in for a treat! The Ganymed orbital canon sent that seed package on it’s way and unless the laws of physics change in the next few weeks we should get it before the end of the year. I’m so happy!
The kids are also happy, but that’s because I told them yesterday that it was going to be a hairy end of the year. It’s a family tradition ever since my grandparents came to the outer solar system: every third year, we grow the most outrageous low gravity hairdo. It is great fun, except for the air filters. But we can clean them up in no time and wild hair does wonders for morale. Happy kids make for happy parents.
More later!
P.S. Ayokunle, Berhane, Munashe and Ekua all drew themselves with huge afros and made a hairy family collage. Best gift ever.
