ok so in march i installed arch(btw) for the first time EVER!!
and i got hyprland and all that
and ive been usingthat same config until rn (august 19th 2024)
so my friend will mentioned a game he likes
my summer car
where you fix your car & finland simulator
the truest open world rpg basically lmao
so i pirated it and since i know jackshit about cars he wanted to be ther while i played to help me out :]
and..the 'present' discord call function didnt work.
'must be a firefox issue' i thought
until i swapped to ungoogled chrome and the share your screen didnt work and i ALSO couldnt hear will
now i havent mentioned linux THAT much to will & co but they still knew i used it
this was not the best ad for it
so i boot into a live mint instance
and wowie, present works, i can hear will
wine.
doesnt.
install.
i run sudo apt update then upgrade but it takes too long.
i shut my thing down
now this was just. the final straw god damn it.
i LOVE linux but this install just. feels like it slowly 'breaks down' over time
when i plugged in my headphones and went on a call, all is well.
i remove my headphones.
the volume is utterly broken
i cannot hear shit
i plug the headphones back in
same story
take them out again
same story
i have to fuck around with alsamixer and reinstall pulseaudio or whatever to get it to work again..or just do a reboot
now would be a great time to mention i did not create the config myself, i used hyprdots by prasanth rangan as a placeholder for when i eventually 'got down to it' and made my own
spoilers: i did not make my own eventually
now im not saying it's prasanths fault at all, it's a very lovely config!!! and it Just Worked for a really long time
in fact 99% of all this is MY fault
but. oh my god.
the emacs/vim/whatever new text editor i get is stuck in the plain white theme
which i wouldnt mind
if i didnt mind it
now i LOVE light themes
but this isnt it
and for some reason the files for the emacs themes just. didnt exist?
so i made them
did not work
and when i look at everyone elses hyprland, emacs looks real pretty
ok this isnt an issue but. i know all this stuff could PROBABLY be fixed with just a reboot...but i was Real Stupid when i first started using linux (in march, after 2 days i got bored of mint and installed arch)
and in fact i am just realising that now
i am quite torn on whether to try out nix or slackware
i could probably just dual boot two linuxes but there arent any guides for that
anyway off to find a 1tb usb to store all my crap so that i dont lose it when i nuke this system :3
