I got a french press a few weeks after the start of the pandemic.
I loved the thing, but since it takes quite a bit of time to brew with it and it's extremely manual for each step, I worried when life got back to normal I wouldn't be able to replace my pour-over with it for my morning coffee. Little did I know the pandemic was going to last a couple more years.
Yesterday was the first time in 2 years I set my alarm to wake me up at 06:00 without anything scheduled early for the next day. Sure, I've still woken up early, sometimes purposefully, but today I woke up at 06:00 purely because I needed time in the day to do things. From the ages of 8 to 17 I woke up at 06:00 pretty much every day. When I was younger it was because of needing to wake up early for my parents' schedules, when I was older it was to get things done in the morning. For the past 2 years I've pretty much had as much time as I needed to get everything done, so I didn't need to fall into much of a schedule. That has now changed.
Picking up a (more) real job, needing to focus on classes with finals coming up, and just keeping on top of my energy levels for the day has required me to get back into my pre-pandemic routine.
:') kinda happy about this
