It's embarrassing to say but all my life I've had some belief in the paranormal as well as subjects relating to it like UFOs and Sasquatch.
Now mind you I don't believe all of it, most of it is bunk, but I can't in good faith believe that thousands of people for hundreds of years have just been misidentifying normal things as paranormal phenomena. Maybe I'm naive, but then again I've had my own few unexplainable experiences so maybe I'm just delusional.
This is the key part of it though, I don't want to believe in these things. I don't want them to be real. I want a unified, explainable, simple, scientific world but I can't look at the mountains of evidence for all these things and turn a blind eye. What is leaving giant footprints, showing movement in the foot and dermal ridges, if Sasquatch aren't real? Why is it that every other person has a personal ghost story if you pry for it? I would make another rhetorical question about UFOs but more modern disclosure has rendered that pointless. Something that was mocked as crazy, alien crafts visiting our world, is now reported on in the New York Times and confirmed by the military.
I just end up feeling crazy and I don't like it, but I can't ignore and deny any evidence that shows up like much of the scientific community.
