Need a new laptop and I'm thinking of getting a ThinkPad T460. Heard good things about ThinkPads; just hoping it has solid Linux compatibility.

Bought one for a relative of mine lately. Great machine. Installed Tiny11 (Win 11 without the crap) on it and works fine too if that's something you'd need. 路 1 month ago
Thanks for the replies, friends. I made a longer form post about my new laptop here: gemini://capsule.valkyrieshowl.com/gemlog/new-laptop-distro-de-musings.gmi
@edanosborne, thanks for that really cool link! That looks like a really useful project. Interestingly, it looks like I may be able to get the fingerprint reader working with the fprint library based on what I've read, perhaps. I'll definitely be checking that out. 路 1 month ago

I bought 2 T460s with 20GB RAM. One for me and one for my mom. They're really easy to maintain and repair. The T460s is from 2016 but I hope for another few years. They're all I need (besides my gaming rig :). 路 1 month ago
Love the old ThinkPad laptop. Looking at the arch wiki T460s page and the only two hardware components they have listed as untested are TPM and Bluetooth (Broadcom). Bluetooth (Intel) and the rest of the hardware list is reported as working. 路 1 month ago
