I'm putting my resignation letter tomorrow and going on round country trip august/september. I hope it will give me will to keep working in IT.

Otherwise, I have no idea what else can I do to make a living.

I've just reached the end of a year doing non-programming work because, yeah, I also lost all motivation for computers/software. I couldn't see the 'end goal' and it was no longer cool.

After a year I still don't see most software as useful (aka actually helping someone in the real world do something), but at least I'm seeing the fun in computing again.

My 2c: when you get back into computing, find an area as close to human users as possible. ยท 3 years ago

I got burned out from programming several years ago. I took a couple years off, went sailing a bunch, and worked as a wooden boat builder. Eventually I found myself wanting to code again and ultimately found a job I like.

When you're done, you're done. It's ok to take a break, and it's also ok to come back to it when/if you feel like it. Have a blast on your trip and be kind to yourself and others. ยท 3 years ago

Sounds like a fun trip, and here's to hoping it's a great chance to rest and reflect and decide what you'll do going forward. ๐Ÿ™ ยท 3 years ago
