Finally got round to installing Debian. My first impression is that it's just like Ubuntu but without the annoying parts.

Debian is the base for Ubuntu. That's why they are similar. Debian is more focussed on being the Enterprise Linux that doesn't suck. It's stable, reliable, never too outdated or too bleeding edge and mostly free. I think you can easily run it in foss only mode but might miss some drivers that way. Ubuntu always feels more corporate(ish) and has all these wired (and wonderful?) additions like snap and what not. Still using it for the odd VM here and there. Usually it's hard to find a use case for it Debian couldn't handle more elegantly. But that's rather subjecting I'd imagine. So whatever distroy you guys use, enjoy! 路 2 months ago

then you should give bunsenlabs a try, it is debian without the annoying parts and runs perfectly ootb, I'm using it as a dayly driver for decades now. 路 2 months ago
