Sometimes I look at the computing/internet habits of "normies" and just wonder: doesn't anyone actually *enjoy* the experience of sitting down at a desktop to just *be on the computer for a while* anymore? Honestly, when I'm unwinding or chilling out at the end of the day, or even on a slow morning, I very much enjoy sitting at my desk, putting some good music on, and just navigating with a mouse and keyboard on a big screen. Why does it seem so many people prefer their shit-slates (phones) for everything? It's a format designed entirely for consumption, too, which doesn't lend itself well to creativity (though of course I know it's possible). Anyway, just a rant.

i consider myself as a nerd of all areas, one tool for one job.. laptop, workstation, tablet, smartphone/tv/home etc.. when i do my morning routine, smartphone i fine, sitting relaxing with a drink in my new chair in the computer room is fine, sitting in the living room with my beloved cat and laptop near the wood stoven, fine... 路 2 months ago
I agree with @damian. Most people do want a simple, relaxed experience with a computer. Most people know smartphones are unhealthy and don't want to be addicted to them. But they're designed to be addictive from top to bottom; it's as hard to stop using them as it is to stop using drugs or stop gambling. 路 2 months ago
@damian Just close the app. Just close your eyes. Look away from the phone. It's not the One Ring, it's a little hit of dopamine. People are absolutely to blame if they are completely incapable of regulating themselves and their behavior. I know this is a controversial stance anymore, but it turns out we are actually in control of what we do. 路 2 months ago
I never got onto that smartphone hype. Even for gemini. I have a custom rom'd smartphone mainly for banking and if I need to do something online outdoors, I'll use my T460s laptop and my phone as a hotspot. Much more relaxing! 路 2 months ago
I dont think that the majority of the population enjoys being unquestioning consumers.
I think those phones and apps are designed meticulously to hook the people on there. I struggle with it myself. I want to stop but sometimes i am just hooked ..
Dont blame the people, blame the corps.
Anyways thats just my rant about it ^^ 路 2 months ago
