So... I saw this thread in Mastodon and it shows how wrong things are with the web (and this is just a tiny part!)

@userfxnet Yes, indeed, i know. But not all pages have "headings" (it's not a requirement). So, for a lot of pages you just can't assign a title, you're just guessing from whatever you can scrape from its content. I like the "keeping things to a minimum" approach of Gemini but having a way to define metadata for a gemtext document wouldn't hurt ? Title, author, modification date, that kind of things. ยท 1 year ago
@gemalaya in the Lagrange and deedum clients iirc, getting around giving a "title" for tabs is either a matter of reading the first "#' header or sub-headers next in line "##, ###" (if no main header available) for making specific distnctions for each tab, or using the direct URL string or part of string (domain.TLD[/sub/directory/index.gmi]). Just a quick observation, in case it helps. ยท 1 year ago
I'm writing a gemini browser for fun and it will never use a tab bar, it's just a stack with what i call gemspaces in it, with indexes. Not that there's anything wrong with tabs, just AFAIK there's no official way to give a title to a gemini page, so a tab with a guessed title isn't ideal. ยท 1 year ago
