I wonder about the people who loudly complain about FOSS "branding" on Hacker News. What are they hoping to achieve? What do they dream about? Why do they always insist on making stale jokes about Mastodon "toots?"

@reidrac I've heard that before, but I did notice a huge uptick in coordinated astroturfing around 2015, which only became worse during and after the elections. Then again, maybe it was always happening and I only just began to notice around that time. · 3 years ago
@marginalia I got a lot of value out of it several years ago, and I still find a useful link now and then, but the overall quality of submissions and comments has declined significantly since 2015 or so. A victim of its own success, I think. · 3 years ago
