We need a new philosophy of progress for the 21st century. One that teaches people not to take the modern world for granted. One that acknowledges the problems of progress, confronts them directly, and offers solutions. https://rootsofprogress.org/a-new-philosophy-of-progress

not taking the modern world for granted is spot on. i can recommend “the end of the world is just the beginning” by peter zeihan. this book ruthlessly highlights, among other things, how overextended we have lived during globalization. for many people life will not progress that fast anymore, some may even feel like going backwards.

different topic: when it comes to philosophy i don’t know why peter thiel is so hated. i found him to be quite a thinker and would not reject essays just because his name is mentioned. one may not always agree. but there is so much value in intellectual disagreement. · 2 years ago

TBH, the author sounds like a techbro who wants to continue business as usual and preserve the profits of the capital class. His list of luminaries is dubious, beginning as it does with Peter Thiel (!). I expect this non-profit to be another greenwashing bullshit machine, a "Hail Mary" to stave off the social evolution that might actually save us, at the expense of the capital class' comfort. · 2 years ago

We need a different timeline, not philosophy of progress. 'The only constant in life is change', you know the saying. In 100 years XXI century will be remembered with nostalgia--as honestly any century in the history · 2 years ago
