Installed gentoo in a VM and it freezes at boot. That's why I do it in a VM - I always break something the first time!

@userfxnet I'm pretty comfortable with Arch Linux, but only just getting the hang of Gentoo. I've also checked out Linux Mint, since some of my friends want to switch away from windows (having seen the absolute mess that is windows 11) but aren't willing to spend hours reading documentation and don't enjoy "taking it apart to see how it works" the way I do. I'm thinking of messing around with Linux From Scratch when I'm ready for it. I'm treating this both as a learning experience and as an escape from windows. · 1 year ago
VM's always give me more trouble than just plain hardware. · 2 years ago
Yoo, fr same. I’m j now barely getting the nerve to try and attempt an MX linux install on my all-in-one after noodling w/ distros that I could either better understand or nyx entirely due to too much inexperience/configuration requirements far beyond my scope of action. Any other distros you’ve given a try? Proteus and Knoppix are p good, they were easy to get into for me. Antix I found to be the best for what I wanna tap into. · 2 years ago
