Just remembered to moan. I discovered Google require fine-resolution location to be enabled for me to use Bluetooth LE on my phone. Please offer me some reasonable justification for this, because I'm not normally a hateful person.

@marmaladefoo it is claimed to be something like that, but it makes no sense to unconditionally force geolocation just because there's a risk that MAC addresses will leak it. 路 3 years ago

Could it be that they classify Bluetooth LE as permitting fine resolution location, so they ask for your permission for that capability. Still, a mobile phone asking for more permission than it actually needed is sadly too frequent 路 3 years ago
