I am genuinely shocked by the level of anti-Russian racism that appears to be deemed acceptable by British establishments like the BBC, who are now making musicians denounce Putin before being allowed to play at the Proms.
This is sinister, no two ways about it.

If we were in the wrong, I'd still not be ashamed of my nationality etc., just of my inactivity or smth, and would have tried to help. It takes an insane radical to be ashamed of something like that. Or someone who is close to becoming one. And yet the West is surprised we didn't overthrow Putin out of enforced gult fmr nationality, and instead got angry at those who tried to guilt-trip us about our nationality. I guess for a crazy person someone who is healthy seems unpredictable. 路 3 weeks ago
Btw, just to make it super clear: the russophobia in the West is not some unfortunate accident while trying to implement some sensible politics. It's not a side-effect, it was the goal way before even 2014. And as a Russian who will never be ashamed of my own natinality/ethnicity, I say Russia's my home and I love her, I grew up here. And also, we're in the right here. TWO reasons. 路 3 weeks ago
And then look at the West narratives. We are not the ones cultivating and spreading hate based on nationality towards other countries. Western countries do that. And then they use this attitude of the masses that they created as an excuse to promote discriminating policies. Google "Operation Mockingbird" and also, just to shake you a bit into reality, google "This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" (it's a YT vid, but YT and Facebook shadowbanned the link to it, but it's findeable through other searches, try Yandex, lol). 路 3 weeks ago
Created an acc just to post it here. 'Cause, I guess, there can be too much pride. Mur President is fine. One of the best leaders in the world. Worry about your leaders, they give you plenty to worry about. And maybe try to compare the narratives in an attempt to understand what's going on. Our narratives: equality IS sovereignity and responsibility, our nation is unique BUT NOT ABOVE any other. 路 3 weeks ago
So. 2 years later. Anyone from this delightful discussion wisened up about what's really going on in Ukraine?
Btw. I'm a Russian "vatnik" (胁邪褌薪懈泻). I support the SMO. A most of us do - sincerely. And it still irks me that the most decent people in the West (those who disagree with the russophobia) generally are just making an exception for us, silly stupid masses "ruled by a scare dictator". 路 3 weeks ago
@eph Most recently, the Russian Empire finally annexed my Belarus and turned its territory into its military base for the invasion in Ukraine. Almost every hour of the day I could hear the flights of their aircrafts for a month. My elderly parents and brother easily perceived the Kremlin's TV propaganda and as a matter of course discussed the effectiveness of the bombing of Ukrainian cities, justifying this by the need to denazify the Ukrainian population. 路 2 years ago
@eph, I respect the efforts of generations of a few dissidents and even individual ethnic groups in their attempts to change the essence of Russian imperialism and / or break out of it, but the rest of the population easily suppresses them, regardless of any victims, whether their own or others. On the surface of the sea, this is not reflected in any way. So, yes, it鈥檚 easier for me to perceive them as a whole, as you wrote:

@astroseneca, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I perceive that you've broadened your definition to include all the ethnic groups in the Russian Federation, even the ones who hate ethnic Russians, as subhuman because the leader(s) of Russia have been, and currently are, bastards. You're saying that at no point have there been Russian (ethnic or otherwise) dissidents opposing their rulers' imperalism, correct? tl;dr 胁褋械 褉褍褋泻械 褋褍褌 胁邪褌薪懈泻懈 路 2 years ago

Does such reasoning apply to all Slavs, or just Russians?
The Russians, by their rulers, are reasonably kept in a half-starved state to suppress self-esteem, ethnic self-consciousness and maintain the required level of aggression (with any amount of dollars coming into the country from the sale of energy resources), which is then directed to the nearest, more prosperous, neighbors.
But the bottom line is that the Russians themselves have long been accustomed to such perverted involvement in the imperial plans of their rulers that they are simply proud of it. 路 2 years ago

Does such reasoning apply to all Slavs, or just Russians?
Russia is a conglomerate of nations and tribes forcibly included into its composition at different periods of its history, where they were subject to unconditional assimilation under the standard of some hypothetical "Russian" as an adjective to the empire. So, Russians are a collective name for such processed nations and tribes (not necessarily Slavic). 路 2 years ago
@kevinsan I don't know who astro is. Maybe he hasn't even registered at the Station yet. These quoted words are often used in the news and websites of my information bubble and it is very convenient for me to use them to enhance irony or even sarcasm, regarding the Russians. 路 2 years ago
@astroseneca, if I鈥檓 understanding the below quote correctly, you鈥檙e calling Russians subhuman:
You treat them as equals, but that's a mistake. I would call them wildlings, but the bottom line is that, in general, the core of their mentality has never risen from its archaic level of the Paleolithic. Because of this misunderstanding, we can observe Stone Age musicians, programmers, diplomats, dictators etc. wandering around the civilized world, whom other people consider normal.

astro, you keep using quote words that weren't even used. It reads like copypasta. 路 2 years ago
@eph, the Russian people == the Russian leadership
If this is not understood, then there is a high risk of losing.
Their entire history shows a clear request for a ruler with dictatorial ambitions. But of course, you most likely do not know the history of Russia, even in its official refined form. 路 2 years ago
All I see here and in the following topics about the 'amazing' and 'such mysterious' Russians is a general misunderstanding of their essence (mentality). The west generally seems to think that punishing the Russian people is punishing the Russian leadership; it does not work like that. 路 2 years ago
Simply playing music in an orchestra would therefore be self-declaring themselves an enemy of the Russian state. That alone would seem like an unfair burden to place on a musician. 路 2 years ago
I have lived all my life on the border with Russia and I fully feel its stenching influence. 路 2 years ago
"Racism" is what they have been asking for for a very long time with their ugly behavior. and finally received. 路 2 years ago
My English will not be enough to explain how wrong you are. If Russians (musicians, oligarchs, cooks, builders) want to earn money or live there in your Western countries, they themselves must explicitly declare their attitude to "poor" Putin, who is in "alone" attacked and attacks his neighbors. If Russian musicians have to be pulled by the tongue, then something is wrong with them (and with their useful idiots). 路 2 years ago
Wow that's bad. Things are worrying in the States too. Some recent news I heard was that the Boston Marathon was banning Russian athletes from competing. 路 2 years ago
