I am genuinely shocked by the level of anti-Russian racism that appears to be deemed acceptable by British establishments like the BBC, who are now making musicians denounce Putin before being allowed to play at the Proms.

This is sinister, no two ways about it.

@eph Most recently, the Russian Empire finally annexed my Belarus and turned its territory into its military base for the invasion in Ukraine. Almost every hour of the day I could hear the flights of their aircrafts for a month. My elderly parents and brother easily perceived the Kremlin's TV propaganda and as a matter of course discussed the effectiveness of the bombing of Ukrainian cities, justifying this by the need to denazify the Ukrainian population. 路 2 years ago

@eph, I respect the efforts of generations of a few dissidents and even individual ethnic groups in their attempts to change the essence of Russian imperialism and / or break out of it, but the rest of the population easily suppresses them, regardless of any victims, whether their own or others. On the surface of the sea, this is not reflected in any way. So, yes, it鈥檚 easier for me to perceive them as a whole, as you wrote:

@astroseneca, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I perceive that you've broadened your definition to include all the ethnic groups in the Russian Federation, even the ones who hate ethnic Russians, as subhuman because the leader(s) of Russia have been, and currently are, bastards. You're saying that at no point have there been Russian (ethnic or otherwise) dissidents opposing their rulers' imperalism, correct? tl;dr 胁褋械 褉褍褋泻械 褋褍褌 胁邪褌薪懈泻懈 路 2 years ago

Does such reasoning apply to all Slavs, or just Russians?

The Russians, by their rulers, are reasonably kept in a half-starved state to suppress self-esteem, ethnic self-consciousness and maintain the required level of aggression (with any amount of dollars coming into the country from the sale of energy resources), which is then directed to the nearest, more prosperous, neighbors.

But the bottom line is that the Russians themselves have long been accustomed to such perverted involvement in the imperial plans of their rulers that they are simply proud of it. 路 2 years ago

Russia is a conglomerate of nations and tribes forcibly included into its composition at different periods of its history, where they were subject to unconditional assimilation under the standard of some hypothetical "Russian" as an adjective to the empire. So, Russians are a collective name for such processed nations and tribes (not necessarily Slavic). 路 2 years ago

@kevinsan I don't know who astro is. Maybe he hasn't even registered at the Station yet. These quoted words are often used in the news and websites of my information bubble and it is very convenient for me to use them to enhance irony or even sarcasm, regarding the Russians. 路 2 years ago

@astroseneca, if I鈥檓 understanding the below quote correctly, you鈥檙e calling Russians subhuman:

You treat them as equals, but that's a mistake. I would call them wildlings, but the bottom line is that, in general, the core of their mentality has never risen from its archaic level of the Paleolithic. Because of this misunderstanding, we can observe Stone Age musicians, programmers, diplomats, dictators etc. wandering around the civilized world, whom other people consider normal.

astro, you keep using quote words that weren't even used. It reads like copypasta. 路 2 years ago

@eph, the Russian people == the Russian leadership

If this is not understood, then there is a high risk of losing.

Their entire history shows a clear request for a ruler with dictatorial ambitions. But of course, you most likely do not know the history of Russia, even in its official refined form. 路 2 years ago

All I see here and in the following topics about the 'amazing' and 'such mysterious' Russians is a general misunderstanding of their essence (mentality). The west generally seems to think that punishing the Russian people is punishing the Russian leadership; it does not work like that. 路 2 years ago

Simply playing music in an orchestra would therefore be self-declaring themselves an enemy of the Russian state. That alone would seem like an unfair burden to place on a musician. 路 2 years ago

My English will not be enough to explain how wrong you are. If Russians (musicians, oligarchs, cooks, builders) want to earn money or live there in your Western countries, they themselves must explicitly declare their attitude to "poor" Putin, who is in "alone" attacked and attacks his neighbors. If Russian musicians have to be pulled by the tongue, then something is wrong with them (and with their useful idiots). 路 2 years ago

Wow that's bad. Things are worrying in the States too. Some recent news I heard was that the Boston Marathon was banning Russian athletes from competing. 路 2 years ago
