Discovered the disown command this morning and for some reason it excited me so much I wrote a phlog about it.

Due to an attempt at enabling trim on the m.2 ssd in RPoD, my gopher and web servers were down for over a week while I was out of town. I have now disabled the fstrim.timer service. Nothing was lost, and it is back up. 🤦♂️
Finally rooted my Gemini PDA... old version of magisk/magisk manager was the key. Device now debloated and peppy.
It's been a while since I posted here... been on the road, Atlantic coast to Pacific coast and many point between. Feeling mellow and peaceful.
I have been having fun setting up emacs from scratch and writing a series of phlox entries about it. I am asking for some help in this latest entry:

gmni -j once gemini://gemini.conman.org/boston.gemini 2>/dev/null | sed 's/^=> /gemini:\/\/gemini.conman.org/g;s/ .*//g' | sed 's/^gem/gmni -j once gem/g;s/$/ 2>\/dev\/null/g' | bash | awk '{if($1=="#"){$1="<h1>";$0=$0"</h1>"}else if($1=="*"){$1="<li>";$0=$0"</li>"}else if($1=="=>"){$1="<a href=\""$2"\">";$0=$0"</a>"}else{$1="<p>";$0=$0"</p>"}{print$0}}' > t.html && pandoc -o t.epub t.html
so, qtwebengine finally failed... so I said fuck it and $ sudo apt install calibre I cannot run calibre, but ebook-convert (somewhat) works. ebook-viewer doesn't work but I have fbreader. I guess that is that. Now I can screw around with epub'ing some gemini, maybe add some curl in there and add gopher to the mix?
(2/2)Calibre from guix has been installing since yesterday morning. It stalled out on qtwebengine (my old nemesis from when I was running gentoo). I left it overnight and this morning found an error. Restarted the install and hours later we are at 63% built. Why oh why can things like ebook-convert not be installable by themselves? Do I really need days of compilation for gui libraries for DEs I am never going to use?
(1/2)Compilation hell entered last night...
As stated in my last log, I have decided to use guix on debian 9 on my gemini pda to get non-old versions of software, and things like lagrange (period). I wanted to use the script to convert gemini pages to epub for offline use. It uses gmni (easy to get) and calibre (UUUGGGHHHH!!).
Calibre from apt on debian 9 gives my a metric ton of python errors.
Spent the weekend so far tweaking my Gemini PDA's Debian 9 install. Custom DWM as WM, Gnu Guix for modern software (afraid to upgrade Debian as I don't want to brick this device). Due to screen size / font size balance, went with 5 tags in DWM, and tmux in my terminal with a perisistent session. Rclone to sync with dropbox / phones / work laptop. Agenda via org mode, orgzly and beorg consuming the sync'd files on my phones (work + not work) for notifications. Mobile hotspot based networking while on the road (most of my life).
New here, this is jynx from gopher://1436.ninja and gemini://1436.ninja
