Sometimes I really had enough with the "XXX is too big we need to help the underdogs" crowd.
LIke that's easier said then done. I've spent thousands of hours doing FOSS to help dunking on those companies - it is HARD. They have hundreds of talented engineers and I'm on my own. Maybe another 2 people.
Sure I want to. But it's more a moon shot then anything.

@m0xee Nah, you're good. I understand where you come from. At least everyone on Gemini knows how difficult is it to build good software. What I'm talking about is who doesn't code and can't/won't help in other ways. A lot of time my response has to be "sure, we want to get there. But that's a long journey" or "I know, I also want that. but it won't happen given how many people is working on it" · 5 months ago
@haze Sorry, I must have misread you. Then… just carry on! (totally not clapping 🤭)
I wish I could contribute more to the software I use, I even maintain my own sets of patches for a lot of it — usually rather niche customisations that I don't deem worth sharing. As for helping in a more formal way… I feel I'm just too scatterbrained for this, it requires time and dedication and I often tend to lose focus and ultimately motivation 😩 · 5 months ago
@m0xee I am not giiving up. But more like, stop cheering and help me dig. I need more brain and computing power. Not claps and flare. That only helps so much and I'm already after that point. · 5 months ago
Yes, it might be a major drawback, but… XXX is too big, we need to help the underdog 😅
I, for one, am very grateful to Void maintainers, who make it possible for me to have a minimum-maintenance system on my computers and never touch systemd.
And I understand when people give up the fight, but… I hope by the time I get my hands on PinePhone, systemd-less SWMO flavour of PostmarketOS would still exist 😄 · 5 months ago
