I've begun to find the word "hobby" slightly irksome. It somehow makes me think "your passions are commodified distractions" instead of "this is what you're alive for and what you want to dedicate your life to."

When I talked about the open source coding I do I tend to still refer to it as "work". My hobbies are things I do for a bit of entertainment or passing interest, but if it's something which really matters to me I also find "hobby" to be a bit infantalizing. · 10 months ago
