Which Mastodon instance should I use? I'm not looking to spend a lot of time on a new social network, but in leiu of a "comments section", I would like to have a place where people can respond to things that I write (and where I can plug my writings). I'm interested in things like permacomputing, ecology, sustainable living, open source, and things in that vein.

I myself am pretty happy with the crowd over at mastodon.sdf.org · 2 years ago

@mc I hear that, but idk, it's fun to think of one's digital neighborhood, no? I don't know if I'd have found fosstodon.org without @moddedbear's suggestion. I've been searching around and merveilles.town seems like the kind of place I'm looking for, but they're invite-only. · 2 years ago

Any. It's federated. You can follow/be followed by anyone in any other instance. · 2 years ago

I don't have any experience elsewhere but I can recommend fosstodon.org. It's decently large but still feels like a community. Good admins too. · 2 years ago

Many of my friends are on kolektiva.social. I'm an anarchist too, but I'm tired of talking about politics — that's why I quit Twitter. · 2 years ago
