Over the past few weeks I tried to trace back communities and places I managed to find acquaintances and friends in the past and I was largely disappointed at how few survived or are active. Do people go to Tinder for online friendship now? Especially within LGBTQ communities from then there is a huge gap in the user base ๐ณ

Communities are never permanent. They exist to explore an idea, then to teach, and then to provide a sense of belonging and purpose. Once those things are done they become inward looking and slowly dissapate. Finally the people will reform into a group of new communitiers formed around new things and the cycle continues. ยท 3 years ago
It is sad to visit the embers of once vibrant communities. In the case of LGBTQ groups, I like to think there's less of a need for them - it seems much easier to be gay, queer, whatever outside of familiar peer groups. Or it's just that people use FaceTwits and ReddiChord or fedi these days. I'll stick to believing it's the former! ยท 3 years ago
