watched an interview with a well known entrepreneur who said “we don’t have slow weeks“ about his endeavors. got me thinking: is this hustle culture on display or should i maybe push myself a bit more since i have a lot of slow weeks?

@whixr i am not yet working for myself, but my wife is planning a small farm and what not. so once the savings are propped up a little more i will slowly think about what others ways of work i would enjoy. although i kinda like the corporate environment. something about big organizations and their craziness amuses me so much that i can’t stop smiling at work. maybe i am a corp person 🙃 · 2 months ago
@danrl Can verify.
If you are working for someone else, a slow week is good work life balance.
If you own a company, a slow week is a warning sign that you are under-utilizing resources you have paid for.
If you own a company AND work for it, you are a living conflict of interests. Then you have to like ... have a ranch in the middle of nowhere. It has to be far enough off grid that your boss (you) can not see you as a resource. Seriously, that guy will work you death if you let 'em :) · 2 months ago
Sounds like just another once of these CEO speak phrases. A lot of great innovation comes from the slow moments of life when the brain has some room to explore things. I highly recommend John Cleese's talk on creativity. Especially the part about urgent vs. important things. People who push for "110% all the time" cannot do important things. However, this is no excuse to remain in slow "open" mode forever. · 2 months ago
