i accidentally started a record collection. don’t even have a turntable, but the idea of having vinyl records somehow got me. now saving up for a decent turntable and amplifier. still not sure how this all happened.

oh I love vinyl records!! They’re so fun to collect, and the physical feeling of the music you love is so gratifying..
wishing you the best vinyl finds!!! · 4 months ago
I have a lot of records. I use them to make mix tapes. I keep a newly made portable cassette player in the truck.
My work site speaker has AUX in and USB power out too, so it doubles as tool battery powered boom box while working outside at the ranch :) · 4 months ago
right off the bat, ONLY do direct drive turntables do NOT do belt drives, TRUST ME you'll thank yourself a bunch later. Belt drives can do gradual damage to your disk if the turntable is a low-grade system plus belts can commonly break and you have to constantly replace them. Your records will be safe with direct drive, as they keep a consistent speed to accomodate the grooves.
ok now with that established, if you're doing a new system i'd say audio-technica is your best bet for a consumer level turntable. If you wanna go for a used system, look into technics or pioneer they're very reliable brands for turntables, as well as numark. · 4 months ago
