Diving into some of the neocities sites again. Such a stark contrast to the polished clickbait with little to no substance. In fact most websites I consumed recently where mostly ugly but extremely rich in knowledge. Glad we didn't lose that web completely.

@captainrantcraft I note that some of genz seems to have their eye on the ball, posting many videos encoraging one another to self host their own spaces.
Neocities is awesome but at the end of the day it is still a central, singular point of failure. Gemini is better for the long haul. It is distributed, far more immune to changes forced down by big-tech, and unattractive to the noisy normies. It is a stable platform on which we can stand while we build what will replace http/html for self-hosting visual spaces like neocities.
All of those knowlegable nerds stand ready to pour an infinity of human creativity and experience into what comes next :) · 2 months ago
