Just watched this vid about the issues with car manufacturers using "wet rubber belts" in car engines and how retarded that idea actually is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SASSFjIt5I - This is car centric but a great representation of so much other junk we're served by corporations who should really know it better.

@drh3xx I agree. Every time I drive a newer car I'm annoyed by it's many "features", touch screens, etc. A car with a subscription is simply a no go. My daily driver just turned 20 years old. No signs of slowing down ... literally lol :D ยท 2 months ago
Not sure on the channel but saw a youtube vid about a guy who has lost ยฃ90k over 3 years in depreciation on his Porshe Taycan (EV). Now his introductory 3 yr free period on some services/functionality is expiring and he has to pay an ongoing sub. Some of the stuff covered by the sub seems fairly reasonable but most not so much. Modern cars suck ass. Go see a restored Model T running in 20 years, could happen. See a current Tesla or similar at the same show, highly doubtful. Manufacturers will no doubt push for legislation disallowing 3rd party batteries, FOSS service/software solutions etc... for shit they've dropped support for under the excuse of safety concerns. ยท 2 months ago
