I appreciate your clarifications. I don't have a problem with condemnation of Hamas attacks, really, but by that token I also don't think anyone should have a problem with condemnation of Israel's either. (If we are going to be fair.) Whatever bad things Hamas or Palestinians have done, we can't let it get removed from the context that Israel has done much worse things, so putting all this blame on Palestinians is just not right. That's where I think you're mistaken in this case 路 10 months ago

...And his recent forced separation of Hamas from the rest of the Palestinian people is more like an attempt to put on a good face on a bad game.

Yes, that stylistically clumsy phrase of mine described my frustration with those people who reluctantly (!) finally admitted that Hamas is bad, but assiduously denied the responsibility of their, to varying degrees, Gaza civilian collaborators who have been embedded in the terrorist scheme for decades.... That's all that the phrase could mean. 路 10 months ago

I paid close attention to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict relatively recently. I was greatly surprised that few people were interested in the unhealthy nature of Hamas, which for someone鈥檚 money, suddenly began simultaneously launching hundreds and thousands of rockets toward Israel. But it took many more months before many educated Westerners recognized that the organization was a terrorist organization. 路 10 months ago

It was impossible not to respond adequately to the atrocities they committed on October 7, 2003. It is the Hamas militants who are the IDF's first priority and they know how to deal with them and without anyone's approving calls.

Casualties are inevitable on both sides, and I could guess their number to be both smaller and larger, but I would never trust the casualty statistics of Gaza's Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas.

In general, I do not believe, but I know for sure that the people of Israel know better how to conduct their military operation correctly and in what time frame, based on considerations of humanity. I really think so. 路 10 months ago

@benk, let's clarify a couple of points. No, it is not very typical for me to call for mass murder of people, even if they have nurtured something like Hamas.

Hamas leaders have stated that they have 40,000 active members of the organization (militants). However, they do not wear military uniforms and with every fiber of their soul they expect to fight in a dense urban area, entangled in their military infrastructure, so that it leads to large civilian casualties. Thus, they have a total disregard for conventional ways of fighting. 路 10 months ago
