Realistic: fully charged satellite phone with instructions on how to call for help. Fantasy: Amulet of infinite wishes and the wisdom to use it well. Playing-along: The best knife possible, per Heinlein's Tunnel in the Sky. Consider: a bible, since chances are slim that you're gonna leave there alive, so finding peace with God is a priority... · 1 day ago
@melyanna that's a very romantic idea... unless you sufffer from parasites, stung by mosquitos, beeing eaten by sharks, tropical storms, lack of food&water, lack of medical support, no internet, no beer, no cat etc... think that's no big fun at all ;) trust me, i am doing this outdoorsurvivalprepperthing for about 40 years now. in the worst conditions, your survivalrate drops to zero within minutes. · 2 days ago
@bavarianbarbarian I see. When I read your first question I immediately pictured a luscious small island in the Pacific Ocean and thought: "Nope. I am not ever going to leave this place." · 3 days ago

@melyanna @hanzbrix maybe i expressed myself wrong, i meant 'abadoned' like a bunch of rocks in the ocean in the middle of nowhere, not a robinson winterwonderland &) · 4 days ago
@bavarianbarbarian that is a good point, but perhaps only after a long stretch of time in which I enjoy being on that island on my own. away from people. Then again, can I actually survive without the internet? Even in my own hometown? Probably not. · 4 days ago
I would like to stay lost. 😂
Once I have a dry/safe space to keep firewood, I could start a fire with friction, seaglass or even drift trash.
Due to the law of thermo dynamics, as long as liquid is used, it should be possible to heat things in a thin wooden tub. Clay tub could also be made.
Water could be made by boiling seawater and condensing it, capturing dew or even with a filter system. · 4 days ago
@melyanna @hanzbrix where do get fire, water and something to eat from? i'd recommend a working sattelite phone and call someone to rescue me ;) · 4 days ago
