My girlfriend is a teacher in elementary school, and took some of school's laptops with Windows 10 to home to reainstall fresh OS on them and clean any residual data left after last year.
One laptop refused to restart to factory and I needed to reinstall OS. It failed once (stuck on preparing system screen) I installed it again and it broke itself doing update, and any "problem solving" tool just waste time to show that is was unable to fix problem. So I reinstalled it again and again it tries to update but now it is stuck installing it which is known problem:

Yeah, this same problem has popped up all throughout the years with Windows 10. I've not had it myself, but many others have, and it's so weird. They think they've fixed the bug, and then the bug just comes back in the next update, lol. I don't get it.
Honestly, I think part of the problem is you have newer generations at Microsoft working on very old code for a quite old Operating System that is closed. They need to just replace the whole freaking thing with something new and better. Windows has way too much cruft now. ยท 1 year ago
Stuck installation actually better than installation breaking whole OS so, good job M$!
How people manage to use this OS? I literally never had so much problems, even on Alpine Linux installation which should make a lot of problems due to busybox and muslc, and never have such problems in early days of Arch Linux when "allan broke it" was ongoing meme.
Worst part of it is when I have problem with Linux there are documentation sources manuals wikis etc. so I usually able to do something about it. But on Windows, I'm totally helpless. There are hundreds "tutorials" on web how to fix it but they all tells to use some automatic problem-fixing tools which don't work. ยท 1 year ago
